Confetti Italian Ice and Custard in Costa Mesa.
Ok, I guess it's not a restaurant, but it's definitely a "mom and pop" shop, and the owner is super friendly. He gave my daughter a $20.00 gift certificate when he learned we were treating her to ice cream because she had received really good grades for the school year.

Is Don Churros Gomez considered small? They're a food truck in Anaheim but I think they recently opened a restaurant somewhere.

Tocumbo Ice Cream is a favorite of mine! They have some flavors with Mexican fruits that are hard to find elsewhere. I also like their blue bubblegum dupe of the classic Thrifty flavor.
La Herradura Western Wear is a fun place to check out.

February usually has the coldest weather and water temperature, but there’s still plenty of things to do. I’d suggest you walk around Heisler park, explore some coves during lower tides, hike Top of the World, and shop/gallery browse in downtown. For dinner eat at South of Nicks and for dessert eat at Gelato Paradiso. That should have you covered for touristy stuff.

Probably a new one for you would be Pacific City. Also the best ice cream of your life can be had at Handel's right at PCH and Main St. As for D'Oro, if you haven't tried this combo yet, try Pepperoni, Onion, Garlic, and Jalapenos. They do a phenomenal job of that.

We moved here not long ago and my husband loves baked goods, so he tried quite a few shops. His favorite (I think) is a donut shop on Newport Beach.
