George’s Greek cafe

Greek · Long Beach · 2 source comments

Love portokalopita but I’ve never seen it on a menu in the states :/ if someone knows of a place I’d like to hear. In my experience you can find some decent but not great/authentic Greek food in OC, I’ve had much better experiences in LA. There’s a place called Aliki’s Taverna that was surprisingly good when I went a couple years ago, George’s Greek cafe in Long Beach was also quite good.

San Pedro Fish Market

Seafood · Long Beach · 1 source comments

Captain Jacks in Sunset Beach for crab legs. Not in HB, but San Pedro Fish Market in Long Beach has a view of the harbor, outdoor seating, fresh fish, etc. And also not in HB, Water Grill across from South Coast Plaza is a higher end seafood spot with amazing food.

The Green Olive Mediterranean Cuisine

Mediterranean · Long Beach · 1 source comments

I've seen some of my favorites mentioned already, so I'll add a few new ones: (1) Punjabi Tandoor in Anaheim (across from the Packing House) - the best Chana Masala and Lamb Vindaloo ever. Family run business with multiple locations but I've only ever been to the one in Anaheim. (2) Mi Rak Korean…

Zuzu’s Petals

Long Beach · 1 source comments

Shinobu Shabu on Goldenwest is really good. Au Lac in Fountain Valley is worth checking out (vegan). Plum’s in Costa Mesa is also really good, but probably not a “hidden gem”. Coconut Rabbit (Thai) in Cypress can be good, too. Though it’s not officially in OC, Zuzu’s Petals in Long Beach rocks my world. Edit: Amarinth Table in Garden Grove is wonderful.
